Pavel Zinchenko joined the women's tennis team as an assistant coach in August of 2023, joining Mai-Ly Tran's staff for her third season.
Zinchenko, who goes by ‘Pasha,’ spent the prior three seasons as the head women’s coach at Delaware State. The former Division II All-American also has four years under his belt as a collegiate assistant to two different schools, in addition to private club experience working as the director of tennis in Barrow County, Ga., and at the Hilt Atlanta Tennis Center.
In each of his three seasons at Delaware State, the Hornets showed improvement, finishing last season with a 15-8-1 mark as he led the team to its first MEAC Tournament championship match, falling to South Carolina State. It was the first time in 11 years the Hornets had won a MEAC tournament match and two of his players earned all-conference honors that season as he compiled a career record of 27-20-1 with the program.
Prior, he had served as the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s programs at Tabor College from 2016-2018, where he was named the ITA assistant coach of the year. He then moved on to his alma mater, Emmanuel College, where he served in the same role. That season, the women’s team won the Carolinas Conference Tournament championship and played at the NCAA Division II NCAA Tournament.
Zinchenko is a USPTA certified tennis professional.
As a player, Zinchenko was a four-year letterwinner, earning second-team National Christian College Athletic Association All-America honors in 2011-12 and 2012-23. A three-year captain, he holds three degrees from Emmanuel, receiving his bachelor’s in kinesiology in 2014 and sports science in 2016. He gained a master’s in business administration in 2018.
He married his wife, Nikita, in August 2019.
